New Invetions From Spider Silk
New invetions are constantly coming out on a daily basis. This is particularly the case as there are a lot of new technology that has enabled great inventors to make new ideas. Inventions are a way to help solve a common problem, or provide an avenue for individuals to make life easier or more enjoyable. This can be found in the recent invention from Spider Silk, which is a unique invention indeed.
In something straight out of science fiction books, a new invention idea from the Netherlands has taken a sample of human skin and added layers of spider silk between its layers through bio engineering. The sample was then tested at the Netherlands Forensics Institute by firing low speed bullets at it, and the bio engineered skin was actually able to stop the bullets.
The science project is now on display at a museum in Leiden in Amsterdam. The skin has been genetically engineered to grow in conjunction with spider silk, making it bullet proof up to the standard for a bullet proof vest Type 1. The project was the brainchild of Jalila Essaidi, a Dutch artist who took her inspiration from work by an American professor at the University of Wyoming.
